Former Indian coach MSK Prasad has backed Virat Kohli to do well in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against Australia. He said that the batsman will be keen to contribute as he should keep in mind that his team has not won the ICC Trophy for a long time.

Virat Kohli was not in his prime for almost 3 years, but a short break from cricket before the 2022 Asia Cup did wonders for him. He unleashed the 2.0 version of him when he once again started scoring runs and winning games for India.

MSK Prasad said Virat Kohli has set a high standard for him and when he didn’t score a run for a period we felt he had failed. He also pointed out that the pressure of the captaincy was something that was taking its toll on him. Speaking to ANI, he said:
“He did not have a very good 2021-22. But that’s because we expect a lot from him. He has set a very high standard for himself. He has to score hundreds every game, otherwise he’s a flop. But he is a human after all. The pressure of the captaincy had him struggling for a while, but once he got his rhythm and clarity back, he didn’t look back.”

ICC World Test Championship Final: “I am sure that he will deliver in the WTC final”, says MSK Prasad.
MSK Prasad went on to say that with the mood Virat Kohli is in, he is sure he will deliver in the WTC final against Australia. He explained:
“He has been in incredible form since the Asian Cup last year and has made centuries in all formats. He must keep in mind that India has not won an ICC tournament for years and must be enthusiastic to do his best to help India win. With his form, his state of mind in a good place and his seniority over 100 tests, I am sure he will deliver in the WTC final”.
Virat Kohli since returning to form has scored centuries in all three formats of the game. He was recently seen in action during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The batsman was in top form as he scored two consecutive centuries in RCB’s last two games. He finished the league with a tally of 639 runs along with 6 half centuries and 2 centuries.
