Former India starter Virender Sehwag has praised MS Dhonicaptain of Chennai Super Kings, stating that only he could have led this team to the 2023 IPL championship game.
In the Qualifier 1 match on Tuesday May 23 in Chennai, the four-time champions had a chance to bat first and set a target of 173 runs for the Gujarat Titans (GT). His players then dismissed Hardik Pandya and company for 157 to allow his team to win by 15 runs and secure a position in the championship game.

Sehwag took to social media following CSK’s victory, saying that only MS Dhoni could have led CSK to the IPL 2023 final, while calling them a superb squad. CSK have qualified for the record-breaking 10th final of the tournament, to be held on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“Chennai Super Kings. What a wonderful team. Leadership is all about making the best of their resources and with the bowling line-up Chennai had, only MS Dhoni could have taken them to the final. That is why he is who he is and receives the love he receives ”, Sehwag posted on his Instagram account.

The CSK captain’s performance with the bat in the early innings was below par, but he excelled as a tactician, ordering his troops to stifle GT during the run. In the slow and dry field, made worse by the absence of dew, Hardik Pandya’s team collapsed.
After another triumph at Chepauk, MS Dhoni addressed his future during the post-game presentation.
“I don’t know. I have 8-9 months to decide. The little auction will be around December. So why take that headache right now? I have plenty of time to decide. But I’ll always be there for the CSK, ya be it in the form of a game or sitting somewhere in the open air”. MS Dhoni told Harsha Bhogle for the official broadcasters.

GT will now play the winner of the Mumbai Indians vs. Lucknow Super Giants Eliminator in Qualifier 2 on May 26 as a result of their loss to CSK.
