Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar named the no cap player who impressed him the most at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. For him, the standout player was Rajasthan Royals (RR) young batsman Yashasvi Jaiwsal and according to him, he is a special player.

IPL 2023 was all about youngsters setting the stage on fire and veterans making a remarkable comeback. Both the youngsters and the veterans were impressive in their own way, but their goal was the same and it was to make their team win. To some extent they did that and that’s why it was the best season in the league.

Yashasvi Jaiswal even did great as Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson was ordinary in front of him as that was his class this time. The lefty broke the league’s record for fastest fifty by achieving the milestone in just 13 balls this season.

Not only that, he’s shot five half centuries and a hundred this season as well. His impressive performance saw him win the tournament’s Emerging Player award.

Sunil Gavaskar said the number of runs Yashasvi Jaiswal scored in opening the innings showed that he is special. The batting also praised him for his run count. Speaking to Sports Today, Sunil Gavaskar said:

“The standout has been Yashasvi Jaiswal. Look at the hundred and fifty that he has written down. Look at the 500 runs he has in the tournament. He’s done it by leading off the batting and he tells you it’s something special.”

He informed BCCI of his marriage and became available after June 5. But head coach Rahul Dravid appointed Jaiswal as a replacement in the squad.
