Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans by 21 runs in the 20th match of the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, March 4. Star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi won the hearts of Pakistani cricket fans with a wonderful gesture towards Sultan captain Mohammad Rizwan after he was injured while batting.
The Qalandars won the toss and opted to bat first. Sam Billings and Abdullah Shafique batted and helped their team to a fine total of 180 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. His bowlers restricted the opposition to 159 for the loss of seven wickets, with Rashid Khan being the better bowler, taking three wickets for just 15 runs in his spell of four.

The incident took place during the fifth over of Multan Sultans’ chase against Lahore Qalandars. Rizwan struck Haris Rauf for a cap on the third ball of the over. Haris threw a short pitch at 141km/h that caught Rizwan in the arm after he missed a shot attempt. The ball got stuck in Rizwan’s elbow and he dropped the bat in pain.
Rizwan ran in to complete the single after losing control of his bat. After successfully completing the Endless Run, Afridi tried to comfort Rizwan, who looked visibly in pain. As Rizwan tried to convince the fastballer that he was okay, Shaheen gestured to the dugout and called for help. PSL uploaded a video of the incident to Instagram with the caption:

The Qalandars sit first in the points table with six wins from seven matches. The Sultan, on the other hand, sits in second place with four wins from seven matches. The Shaheen Afridi-led side will now play Peshawar Zalmi in their next PSL match on Tuesday, the same day the Sultans play Islamabad United.
