PSL 2023 – They Can Show Aggression, I Show It With My Batting: Babar Azam Claps Back At Mohammed Amir’s Controversial Remark

At the start of the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, there was some controversy surrounding former Karachi Kings fast bowler Mohammad Amir when he made an unusual comment about the opposition captain. Babar Azam. Ahead of his team’s opening match against Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi, Amir commented that bowling the Pakistan captain was no different from bowling a lower-level batsman.

Amir explained that such matchups and rivalries between players help him stay focused on his job of taking wickets and winning games for his team. During the match, Amir did not perform well, allowing 42 runs in four overs. He also showed his frustration by throwing the ball in the direction of Babar Azam after the Pakistani captain hit one of his crosses for a four.

Just Focusing On My Hitting: Babar Azam Responds To Mohammed Amir’s Comments

During an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Babar Azam was asked about his competition with Mohammad Amir in the PSL game. However, the Pakistani captain responded by saying that he pays no attention to personal rivalries with opposing players and instead focuses on his own batting.

“On the field, it’s the game of bat and ball. And you always try to do your best. I try to focus only on my hitting, not on other things that can divert my attention because then it affects me.

“The simpler I keep it, the better it is for me. I don’t think I reacted in any way that time, I kept it pretty simple. You can show aggression, mine comes through hitting.”

The PSL is just a preparation for the Pakistani skipper as Babar Azam looks to retain his old touch with the aim of scoring a ton this season and helping his new franchise win the PSL title. Babar Azam in the same interview also added that ultimately the main goal has always been to win the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.
