The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held an emergency meeting with all PSL franchise owners to make a decision regarding the upcoming PSL matches planned for Lahore and Rawalpindi. The Punjab interim government had requested the CPB to pay PKR500 million for organizing the matches in these cities, of which the junta had already paid PKR50 million for food expenses.
The remaining amount of PKR450 million is required by the provincial government for security and lighting purposes. To avoid incurring these expenses, the board is contemplating relocating the Punjab section of PSL 8 to Karachi.

During a video conference, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) allowed management committee chairman Najam Sethi to make the final decision on the fate of the scheduled PSL matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi, Cricket Pakistan reported.
Pakistan Cricket Board Denies Punjab Government Demands
Sethi expressed concern about setting an unfavorable precedent and incurring financial loss for the board and franchises if the PCB gives in to the provincial government’s demand for PKR450 million for lighting and security expenses. PSL franchisees have already refused to bear the cost.
The PCB is currently negotiating with the provincial government to resolve the matter. During a meeting held on Friday night between the PCB and the provincial government, Sethi presented details of approximately PKR 700 million in provincial taxes that are generated exclusively due to PSL parties in Punjab.

The CPB has informed the Punjab government that no payment will be made for the security services and that they are willing to relocate the parties from Punjab to Karachi. Should the matter remain unresolved, an emergency meeting between the PCB and PSL franchises will be held tomorrow.
The PCB has offered an alternative proposal to the PSL franchises, suggesting that the remaining matches of PSL 8 be moved to Karachi. According to Muhammad Yousuf Anjum, a correspondent for Express-News, if this relocation takes place, the matches scheduled to be held in Lahore during the New Zealand series could also be moved to Karachi.
