“We tried hard tonight but we came up short”- Faf du Plessis

Captain Faf du Plessis said that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was not one of the best teams in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and therefore did not deserve to be in the playoffs.

“It’s difficult because we had high hopes in the last game. We knew we were playing a strong team tonight. After the momentum of the last two games, we were looking forward to making the playoffs with some good form behind us. Going into a game against a top team like GT, you have to be at the top of your own game.” Faf du Plessis said.

“We were not far. Shubman Gill played an incredible shot to get a hundred. It’s disappointing that our season ended here, but we had some really positives in Maxi’s form this year. Virat was amazing. The partnerships between me and Virat were incredible and that consistency was remarkable.” Faf du Plessis stated in RCB v GT Game Day Review.

“Siraj had a great campaign. There were also areas that we were consistently not very good at. If we look at ourselves, we’ll be honest in saying that we weren’t one of the best teams in the competition. We were lucky that there were very good performances throughout, but overall, we don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. We tried really hard tonight, but we came up short.” Faf du Plessis added.
