The 50-year-old also called the Indian Premier League the “second best sports league” in the world and said that it is not fair to draw comparisons between the Indian Premier League and the Bangladesh Premier League.
“Look, IPL is a different brand. The availability of players in the IPL and their financial condition have moved to a completely different level. It is the second best sports league in the world. I don’t want to make comparisons between the BPL and the IPL. BPL is also a good league,” Ganguly told BDcrictime.

I will always pray for Bangladesh cricket to grow – Sourav Ganguly
Ganguly added that he discussed with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Nazmul Hassan Papon on how to improve the standards of the Bangladesh Premier League. He also praised the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for making significant improvements over the years.
“I have talked to Papon bhai about how to improve the BPL. There is so much passion in the people of Bangladesh and it is a blessing that the stalls remain full. I will always pray for Bangladesh cricket to grow,” he stated.
“There is a system in Bangladesh. His cricket has grown in the last 20 years. They have beaten a team like India twice at home, something that didn’t happen before. There is a lot of merit and his cricket is in the right direction,” Ganguly added.
