Aiden Markram, the talented all-rounder from South Africa, is looking forward to embarking on a new challenge as he prepares to lead the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which begins on March 31. Aiden Markram has only been a part of the franchise for a year and it will be interesting to see if he can redeem the franchise this time around.
The Sunrisers had a disappointing season last year, finishing in eighth position with six wins and eight losses under the leadership of Kane Williamson, who was later released by the franchise before this year’s auction. Williamson’s departure has paved the way for Markram to be given the reins of the team and lead the Orange Army in their quest for glory in the upcoming IPL season.

In the 2021 Indian Premier League season, Aiden Markram was a member of the Punjab Kings team. However, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the 2022 Players Auction for a price of Rs. 2.60 crores.
During the 2022 season, Aiden Markram played in 14 matches for the Orange Army and performed impressively, scoring 381 runs at an average of 47.63, which included three half centuries. One of his standout performances came in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders where he played an unbeaten innings of 68 to help guide the Sunrisers to a comprehensive 7-wicket victory.

Speaking of leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the South African all-rounder believes that the team has a good team and can do well if the players are up to the task.

“I always look for characters who can handle a lot of pressure in a tournament like the IPL. Looking at the Sunrisers team, we have a great group of players, and there are players who have strong character. I hope those guys will step up when necessary and show their experience.”
Aiden Markram is currently in fine form, having recently led sister franchise Sunrisers Eastern Cape to victory in the inaugural SA20 tournament held in Johannesburg. Markram’s impressive performance in the tournament earned him the Player of the Tournament award, thanks to an excellent all-around display from him which saw him score 366 runs and take 11 wickets.
With the IPL season now on the horizon, Markram is hoping to replicate his recent success and lead the Sunrisers Hyderabad to glory. The team’s first match is against the Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad on April 2.
