Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil gavaskar believes Virat Kohli will turn his half century in the fourth and final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test into a double century.

On Saturday March 11, Kohli was unbeaten on 59 as India finished day 3 on 289/3 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The hosts still trail Australia by 191 runs with seven first-innings wickets in hand as the series enters its final day.

As reported by Sportskeeda, after the game, Sunil Gavaskar predicted that the star batsman could turn his fifty into two hundred. As the Indian cricket legend said, India would take the lead and have a chance to win the game if Kohli scores a double ton.

“The best thing is the way Virat Kohli arrived and scored half a century after seeing the behavior of the field. I feel like this half century could turn into two hundred and if that happens it means India would have taken the lead from Australia and have a chance to win the match.” Sunil Gavaskar said.

“It has not marked a century in recent years”: Sunil Gavaskar

Gavaskar claimed that Kohli has been desperate for runs because he has been going through a dry spell and scoring 250 would be the best way to make up for it.

“When someone is hungry and doesn’t have much to eat and is getting something to eat, why should they give it up? He hasn’t scored a century in recent years, so the best way to make up for it is by scoring 250.” Gavaskar said.

Kohli and Shubman Gill (128) put on a 58-run third wicket stand before the latter was caught by Nathan Lyon in front of the wickets. So far, the former Indian captain and Ravindra Jadeja (16*) have combined 44 runs for the fourth wicket.
