Hardik Pandya’s captaincy will be put to the test where the pitch at Wankhede Stadium is expected to be a belt.
It won’t be wrong to say that Australia have a slight edge as they have multiple match winners present in the squad in the form of Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. Hardik Pandya on Jasprit Bumrah
Hardik Pandya was seen attending the press conference ahead of the 1st ODI and was asked if Jasprit Bumrah’s absence would hurt the India team.
“Jassi hasn’t been around for quite some time. The bowling crew, we’ve been doing a decent job. Everyone has experience now… the number of games they’ve played. Having Jassi makes a big difference, but to be honest, it doesn’t bother us much because the guys who have taken on the role of Jassi, I’m pretty sure will do very well. It gives us a lot of confidence.” Hardik Pandya said.

Hardik Pandya on Shreyas Iyer
Hardik Pandya was asked about Shreyas Iyer’s injury and also about managing workload and players who get injured frequently.
“I’ve been in that situation where the back could be a problem… we’ll miss him, but we have to find solutions if he’s not around. If it is, it is of course welcome. There is plenty of time to think about how we can move forward.” said Hardik Pandya
“That’s not my calling (asked about workload management). We have to have a lot of faith in our S&Cs (Strength and Conditioning). I’m a guy who trusts his team. These workload calls, who should play when, who shouldn’t play, that’s completely on guys who are professionals and it’s their call. All these guys are confident that if they miss a few games, they miss them. Alright,” he claimed.
“That is the confidence we have. If someone is lost due to workload management, this management has shown trust in the players. I think that is the reason why the players who have left have returned with a lot of confidence. added.
