The Indian cricket team recorded a resounding victory over Australia in the opening Test Match. Rohit Sharma’s Brigadier looked as if they were on a mission from ball 1. The visitors were clueless against the spinning duo of Ashwin and Jadeja who took 15 wickets from 20 and bowled quite a bit of wicket to wicket. The duo didn’t panic even as Labuschagne and Smith looked dangerous in the first inning.
Skipper Rohit Sharma silenced all criticism after breaking a century on a tricky surface. The batter took his time and waited for loose deliveries. Management would be delighted as the revival of Rohit Sharma has meant that there will be no additional pressure on Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli.

Shreyas Iyer doubtful for 2nd Test Match
According to reports, it seems unlikely that the selection panel led by Chetan Sharma will include Shreyas Iyer in the second Test match. The batter had suffered a lower back injury and it is assumed that he is not 100% ready for the game. There are chances that the batsman could appear in the Irani Cup match for Rest of India against Madhya Pradesh on March 1-5.

Great opportunity for India
If Shreyas Iyer does not make it to the second test match, then Suryakumar Yadav would have another chance to show his skills. Suryakumar was getting into a rhythm, but the crafty Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon got the better of him. Perhaps Suryakumar should be a bit more careful as Test Cricket is often said to be a game of patience.
Australian head coach Andrew McDonald needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat as the batting unit had gone into a shell playing defensive cricket. The Aussies need to bring their ‘A’ game and ensure they are working hard with the bowlers and need to take the match session by session.
