The fourth test match between India and Australia saw the game dominated by the batsmen apart from Shreyas Iyer who missed the innings due to injury and the game ended in a draw. Despite Australia’s valiant efforts, the Gavaskar Frontier Trophy it ultimately went to the hosts as they managed to clinch a 2-1 win over the Indian side.
Adding to their success, Rohit Sharma and his team were able to secure their place in the World Test Championship final, where they will face Australia once again. This is undoubtedly a great achievement for the Indian cricket team, and they will no doubt be looking forward to the challenge.

Unfortunately, the Indian team also suffered a major setback during the fourth test as Shreyas Iyer suffered a back injury. Iyer has been struggling with this problem for some time and was forced to miss the first Border Gavaskar Trophy Test as a result.
During India’s first innings in Ahmedabad, Shreyas Iyer did not come out to bat, and it was later confirmed by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) that he was experiencing pain in his lower back. This is certainly a worrying development for the Indian team as Iyer is a key mid-order hitter who has been in fine form in recent matches.
No doubt, the Indian team hopes that Shreyas Iyer’s injury is not too serious and that he can recover in time for his upcoming matches.

Rohit Sharma provides an update on Shreyas Iyers’ injury
During the post-match press conference that followed India’s 2–1 series win, captain Rohit Sharma revealed that Shreyas Iyer had undergone back scans. Sharma also noted that the injury did not appear to be minor, suggesting it may be more serious than initially anticipated.
“Poor guy. It was just such an unfortunate incident. He had to wait all day to bat and then when the day was over the problem he had with his back recurred. He was sent to the hospital for scans. I don’t know the exact report from the scans, but he doesn’t seem to be doing so well.”
“Obviously, that’s why it’s not present here, so we don’t know the exact status of how long it will take to recover or when it will return. When it happened, it didn’t look so good. I hope he recovers quickly and comes back and plays again.”
Shreyas Iyer’s absence from the Indian cricket team has been a recurring problem as he was also unable to participate in the ODI series against New Zealand due to his back injury. At the moment, it is not clear if he will be able to participate in the upcoming ODI series against Australia, which leaves his participation in doubt.
