IND vs AUS: India Needs Someone Aggressive At The Top- Brad Hogg Reckons KL Rahul Would Be Dropped For The Third IND Against AUS Test

Brad Hogg, former Australian spinner, believes that KL Rahul’s performance would force the India team to insert Shubman Gill into the starting XI for the third Test match between India and Australia. In the current Border-Gavaskar series, the performance of the wicket-keeper batsman has been lacking, as evidenced by his total of 38 runs from three innings.

Shubman Gill is watching the game from the sideline, waiting for his chance. Racking up runs in the home season thus far, the young player has had a historic 2023. During the trip to Bangladesh in December 2022, he too made a significant statement by scoring his first Test century.

Hogg stated on his YouTube channel that he does not want to drop KL Rahul but due to his performance it is unavoidable. he added, “I never, ever want to leave KL Rahul, I think he has been a fantastic contributor to Indian cricket, he has been put in so many different roles and has achieved so much..”

“But, his form at the moment presents a problem, and I think India needs someone aggressive at the top of the order, just to take on the Australian bowlers and try to get some momentum. So, I would bring Gill instead of Rahul.” Added Brad Hogg.

Another key piece of information about his position on the test team is that he is not the vice-captain of the team. There is no mention of a substitute in the updated list for the next two Tests against Australia, although rumor has it that Rohit Sharma may have the option to select one.

“KL Rahul dropped in Australia in 2019 and came back strong”: Ravi Shastri

The most recent Test fifty for KL Rahul was during the early 2022 tour of South Africa. Since then, he has had many rhythmic difficulties. He has struggled to control his presence in the crease, even in the current series against Australia, frequently succumbing to soft dismissal.

Ravi Shastri stated that KL Rahul’s most effective move right now is to take a break: “Sometimes a rest for a player at those times is so much better because you can go away, work on your game and come back stronger. I remember in my tenure, in the first Test in England, Pujara was knocked out and he came back with hundreds. KL Rahul dropped in Australia in 2019 and came back with a bang as well.”

The third Test between India and Australia will take place at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The series is currently 2-0 in favor of the Men in Blue.
