“Nathan Lyon was fantastic for me. He said ‘roll up your sleeve and enter the contest’. It doesn’t really matter if you’re bowling with Rohit. Yes, Rohit is one of the best in these conditions, but he asked me to take more care of myself,” Matthew Kuhnemann told Star Sports.

Given the chance to bowl the new ball by substitute captain Steve Smith, Matthew Kuhnemann accepted the challenge and dismissed the in-form Rohit Sharma, a crucial ground for Australia.

“Yeah definitely. Somehow we reviewed the Delhi game, myself, the spinners along with Dan Vettori. We were a bit full, we threw 4-5 meters, I want to bring it back to 4-6 meters in this game. We did some technical stuff and the more mental side of things (preparation). We were lucky to have a 10 day break between the two tests.”

“I am pinching myself every time I go to bed. It’s pretty special. My dad came in today, it was very special to take some wickets in front of him. I am receiving a lot of support from my country. It feels amazing to be a part of this tea.”

Kuhnemann continued his impressive performance, taking the wicket of Shubman Gill in his next over, catching the young batsman at the first slip and ending their innings. Kuhnemann made his Test debut in Delhi and was selected before the second Test.
