Could have finished Match One Over sooner: Harmanpreet Kaur
“It doesn’t get more unfortunate than this, getting that momentum back when Jemi and I were hitting. And to lose after that, we didn’t expect this today. The way I ran out, it can’t get more unfortunate than that. Putting in the effort was more important. We talk about fighting to the last ball. The result didn’t go the way we wanted, but I’m happy with the way we played in this tournament.” Harmanpreet Kaur after India withdrew from the T20 World Cup in the semi-finals.
Responding to a question about his unfortunate run, Harmanpreet Kaur said that India could have won the game earlier if his bat had not caught on the wicket.

“I think if my bat hadn’t jammed and I would have easily finished that run, I think if I had stayed until the last moment, we definitely could have finished the match earlier because we had the momentum. But even after that, Deepti was there, Richa was there.
I was confident that they can do it too because Richa has also hit well in every game so far. But I think after I got out, we played 7-8 point balls in the middle and the game changed there. For the rest, we had a good moment and the game was going well”. she said.
Harmanpreet Kaur praises Jemimah Rodrigues
India trailed to 28-3 as they chased Australia’s 172-4 lead in the over-20 match before Harmanpreet and Rodrigues battled it out for the Ladies in Blue. Rodrigues contributed a marvelous 24-ball 43, while Harmanpreet played a magnificent 34-ball 52.
The Asian giants lost the semi-final game by 5 runs as Harmanpreet Kaur and company could only produce 10 runs with 16 needed in the final. The Player of the Match was Ashleigh Gardner, who took two wickets and scored 31 runs off 18 balls.
“We know we have a good batting lineup even if we lose early wickets. I need to give Jemi credit for the way he hit today. She gave us the boost we were looking for. Happy to see such performances. Happy to see them play her natural game.
Even though we didn’t play to our strengths, we made it to the semi-finals. We give away those easy catches. You have to take them when you want to win. We’re in the wrong field. We can only learn from these lessons and not repeat the mistakes.” Harmanpreet Kaur added.
