Indian pacemaker Ishant Sharma, who is the only second fast bowler after the great Kapil Dev to play 100 Tests, believes he could have achieved that milestone in ODIs. Ishant Sharma revealed his career low point and said his perception of his white ball game changed after the 2023 ODI against Australia.
Australia needed 44 runs in the last three overs to win with Adam Voges and James Faulkner in the crease with four wickets in hand. Ishant gave up 30 runs in a row when James Faulkner broke a boundary and four sixes. Australia got into a comfortable position and chased down the target with three balls to spare.

It was very hard for me – Ishant Sharma
Speaking on Cricbuzz’s ‘Rise of New India’ show, Ishant Sharma recalled his low point in an ODI match against Australia in 2013, where James Faulkner crushed him for 30 runs in one over. The right arm pacemaker revealed that he cried for almost a month when India lost the match due to their 30 runs.
“My lowest point was that 2013 game in Mohali against Australia. I don’t know if I could ever have a worse time than that because I was…I don’t know. It was very hard for me. And it was not because I gave away many races ”, Ishant Sharma told Cricbuzz.
“What hurt me the most was that I was the reason behind the loss of the team. I was dating my wife at the time and I just talked to her and I think I cried for almost a month. I used to call her every day and cry on the phone saying the team lost because of me.” added.

mahi bhai Came to my room – Ishant Sharma
The fast bowler further stated that he received support from then-captain MS Dhoni and his teammate Shikhar Dhawan after one match. The Delhi-born cricketer said perceptions about his white-ball game changed after that.
“The good thing that happened was Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) came to my room and Shikhar (Dhawan), who was playing that game, also came and said, ‘Look, you have been good (Dekh, tu acha khel raha hai).’ Because of that one match, the perception arose that I am not a cue ball bowler.” added.
Ishant Sharma was dropped from the squad after the match and played only a few matches in the over 50 format. He played his last ODI match against Australia in 2016 and was not considered for selection despite being a regular member of the squad. proof.
