Gujarat Giants Women managed to secure their first win of the season in the ongoing edition of the Women’s First Division 2023 as the team managed to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 11 runs thanks to a quick strike from Sophia Dunkley.
Sophia Dunkley was in power-slamming mode as the batsman took the Bangalore bowler for a ride across the park snapping 65 runs in just 28 deliveries in an innings that included 11 fours and 3 tops.

Sophia Dunkley along with Harleen Deol had a great partnership adding 60 runs in just 30 deliveries providing the innings with a much needed boost.

“It was a little touch and get. Very proud of the girls for getting the win today. no of course not[on if she asked the management for not to play her in the first match]. I would love to play in this great opportunity. I think if you hit, get positive and try to hit the ball hard, you can get into the flow. I think, in this wicket, even 200 is not enough. It was a close finish and we are happy with the result”, he said.
Gujarat Giants thanks to Sophia Dunkley and her bowlers have taken their first win of the season in their three games and have now moved up to the fourth position in the points table. The team will be happy with their performance and will look to continue like this in their next games.
