Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan shared an interesting story about his former Sunrisers teammate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The veteran starter revealed that Warner used to hit him and how he used to react to being taunted by the Australian star.

Shikhar Dhawan, who was an integral part of Team India in all formats until 2018, played with David Warner for SRH during the IPL before moving to the capitals of delhi (DC). The left-handed batsman led the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and guided the team to the play-offs with 10 wins from 16 games. However, he was removed from the captaincy the next season.

I also used to take him back by sleigh – Shikhar Dhawan

During an interview with The Lallantop, Shikhar Dhawan revealed that David Warner used to sled him during the Test Match. The left-hander said that he returned it to him for stripping him of his place in the red squad.

“Opponents will try to break you mentally, especially in test matches. Warner used to do that a lot. He told me: “Your place in the Indian team is not fixed. You will be thrown!” But then, he also used to sled him back. Dhawan told Lallantop.

“He was a gambling addict at one point. So he used to press that nerve. I answered him: “you will play again, you will be addicted again. You will sell everything. Look, it’s a rivalry! These things keep happening.” Dawan added.

The 37-year-old played a crucial role for India at ICC tournaments and won the player of the series award at the 2013 Champions Trophy. He scored a brilliant century against Australia in the ICC World Cup group match ODI 2019 before being ruled out due to a finger injury. Dhawan expressed his hope of playing the next 50+ World Cup on home soil later this year.
