Chennai Super Kings snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 final. CSK won the match by 5 wickets and now have 5 IPL titles to their name. Devon Conway he played a ferocious 47-run slam on 25 balls and hit 4 fours and 2 sixes. Ruturaj & Devon Conway set the tone when the duo were involved in a partnership of 74 runs on 39 balls while chasing 171 runs.

CSK fired off as they scored 52 runs in the first 4 overs on the ground restrictions. The CSK batsmen came up against Rashid Khan as the leg turner was hit by the park and he conceded 44 runs in his run of 3 and perhaps that was the turning point of the match. It was a collective effort by the CSK batting lineup.

Ambati Rayudu and Ajinkya Rahane made cheerful cameo appearances and were fearless in their approach. In the 13th over, Mohit Sharma picked up back-to-back wickets from Rayudu and MS Dhoni giving the team confidence that they can bounce back and CSK needed 21 runs to win in the last 2 overs.

Mohit Sharma nailed the perfect yorkers off the first 4 balls in the final over as CSK needed 13 runs to win. It took CSK 10 runs to win from 2 balls and it looked like Mohit Sharma got too predictable as Jadeja broke a six and a four on the last 2 balls and pulled off a holdup. Maybe Mohit Sharma should have changed the angle.

GT hitters looked in complete control after CSK asked them to hit first. Shubman Gill had a rare miss when he failed to convert his opening, but together with Wriddhiman Saha they stitched up an opening partnership of 67 runs in 7 overs.

Not many would have thought that GT’s eclectic batsman B Sai Sudharsan played a turbulent 96-run slam off 47 balls and hit 8 fours and 6 sixes. The left-handed hitter struggled a bit at first, but then dictated the terms. GT scored 71 runs in the last 5 overs as there was a carnage.
