Ruturaj Gaikwad, on Tuesday (May 23), once again starred with the bat to help Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans in IPL Qualifier 1 and book their place in the final of IPL 2023.
Prior to the hit against Gujarat Titans, the opener did not really enjoy a very good campaign with the bat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the current season. He started the campaign with a fifty penalty against Lucknow Super Giants in the first game of the season in Chennai. But since then, he has failed to reach one fifty in 6 league games.

But on Tuesday, Ruturaj Gaikwad finally packed a good punch on the spot and helped Chennai Super Kings win the clash. After Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave CSK a good start by adding 87 runs for the first wicket. The partnership came to an end after Gaikwad’s departure. The right-handed batsman scored 60 runs and was the game’s leading scorer.

Thanks to his striking, CSK scored 172 for 7 in the 20 allotted overs. In response, the reigning IPL champions were bowled out for 157. For the Titans, Shubman Gill was the top scorer, scoring 42. Other than him, no other specialist batsman managed to land a shocking hit.

The 44-ball, 60-run strike has helped Ruturaj Gaikwad win the Man of the Match award. Speaking after receiving the award, the CSK opener pointed to the challenges he faced while batting in Chennai in recent games.
